The Calabar High School for boys is giving itself a facelift. Come September, the students who attend the Red Hills Road, St Andrew-based institution will enter through a new gate. And it will cost $17 million. Construction of the new gate will be conducted by Tank Weld Ltd.On hand for the groundbreaking ceremony at the school recently was former Prime Minister, PJ Patterson. He was delighted about the upgrade to his alma mater. “The students must feel proud when they enter Calabar," Patterson said. Also in attendance were Calabar old boys, Vin Lawrence and Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams. “Calabar is a landmark and this will enhance the aesthetics of the Corporate Area,” Williams said. The gate will be retrofitted with steel arches and will bear the school motto, the Utmost for the Highest.
