On Thursday, November 10, 2016, the grade eleven cohort of students attended school in professional garbs as they anticipated an eventful day which would signal the culmination of activities aimed at preparing them to enter the world of work. The Personal Development sessions in the month of October emphasized business communication in the areas of dress, resume and cover letter creation, vote of thanks and introduction of speakers.
In the morning, the students gathered in the Chapel where they were addressed by Major General Anthony Anderson, Chief of Defense in the Jamaica Defense Force and Calabar Old Boy. The boys were challenged to be responsible and efficient citizens. Thereafter, they returned to their form rooms where they met different Human and Resource personnel from corporate Jamaica who gave them tips of how to excel at interviews and as a worker in an organization. The interviewers consisted of old boys, parents and friends of the school. The students were then interviewed individually.
Immediately after the interviews, students had the opportunity to prepare their TRN while engaging in Heart's Try a Skill program. Many students learnt basic cake decorating, mixology, pasta preparing, tiling and electrical installation. Both students and those who participated had raving reviews for the event.
Some felt that a second part is in order to solidify the tips gleaned
We would like to thank all the persons who made this a success!
