Basketball

Calabar first entered the Inter-School Basketball Competition for the Modern Furnishing Trophy in 1972

The winning years include:

  • 1976 & 1977 (Corporate Area Knock- Out)
  • 1976 &77, 1982-83, 1987-1990 (Modern Furnishing Competition)
  • 2003-05 (ISSA/KFC Senior Championship)
  • 2001/2- 2002/3 & 2004/5 (ISSA/KFC Junior Championship)

Over the years, Calabar basketball stars have gone on to represent US Universities. Andrew Kennedy represented Calabar 1978-1983 and was drafted to the NBA in 1987 by the Dallas Mavericks. Ajani Williams represented Calabar 1992 -1994. He went on to do a short stint with the Orlando Magic and the Atlanta Hawks before being elected as President of the Jamaica Basketball Association.

In 2014/2015

  • Under 19 and Under 16 Suthern Conference and All Island Champions

In 2015 to 2017 ( Three years)

  • Under 19 Southern Conference and All Island Champions. In 2018 they were runners up. The Juniors made it to the semi finals in 2018.

Training Days:Monday – Fridays 2:35pm – 6:00pm on the Basketball Court.

Coach: Ludlow Barker (Former Calabar player; Senior Coach of Year 2004-05 and 2015/16, Junior Coach 2005-06)

Captain: Tyrese Jackson (Under 19) and  Shavarine Beach(Under 16)
